Kirby Himself

This was the total highlight of the day and post Christmas winter break for the girls!  We ran into Kirby Heyborne as we were waiting to see the Joseph Smith:Prophet of the Restoration Movie.Posted by PicasaFor those of you who don't know, Kirby is a 'famous Mormon actor' who performs in many light hearted Church movies. As a family who does not have cable and has strict movie watching criteria, Kirby is a huge movie star and we love him.  Just the night before the girls watched 2 Kirby movies back to back and I came downstairs about 1:00 am to turn off the TV with the RM trailer running.  I hope this picture depicts the kindness he showed to us.  He is currently living outside of LA, not to far from where Robert and I grew up, in hopes of expanding his acting career.  He was with his wife and Mom, but his kids were not with them.  Oh, it was just so fun.  What a great way to end the year.

Church Museum

We visited the quilt exhibit, and thought of Papa Miller.
And then the interactive Latin America exhibit.  These girls were meant to dance.
This reminded us of our 19 year old cousin Nathan, who is currently serving a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Mexico City, Mexico  We are so proud of him!

Eternal View

Today we went downtown for the afternoon.  It is nice to live in a smaller town, but still be within 20 minutes of a major city.  It's a great combo for us.  We took in the view of Temple Square, especially the temple, from the top of the Joseph Smith Memorial Building, formerly Hotel Utah.Posted by PicasaWe were able to look down on many wedding parties having their pictures taken, and the girls shared thoughts on their future wedding days.  Wow.

Hockey Time

We haven't had much snow this winter, but the temps have been cold enough to freeze the pool water.
That means time for some ice hockey on the cover.  The puck was Odie's frozen water from his bowl that was outside all night.  He was constantly trying to get in the game as well.Posted by Picasa

Sledding/Towing

Today we went sledding with our neighbors that moved to Omaha a few years back.  We went to Gorgoza Park in Park City, which is really the best place to sled.  They have groomed hills and a towing system that carries you back up the hill.  It was a great afternoon spent with friends

Babysitting

Aubs is babysitting 'Parrot' the parrot and 'Shila' the dog while their owners are in Holland. It has been fun for her to visit them and try not to get her fingers bit off. We're not sure if she's making friends or enemies.

Church

9:00 am church and the girls were part of the program, so off we went.  I love have Christmas on the Sabbath.  I usually consider each Christmas Day like the Sabbath, but it was even better to be able to worship and partake of the Sacrament on this special day.

Family Gift

We don't really do the 'Santa thing' in our house.  As 'Bahumbugish' as it is we have these issues about 'being real' and just don't incorporate Santa into our Christmas Day.  But we do get a 'Family Gift' each year, one that will hopefully create experiences more than additional things in our home.
That's what the girls are looking for...
and found.  Posted by Picasa
