True Blue KIck Off Assembly

True Blue is the Annual Christmas Service Project that Bingham does each year during the month of December.  It consists of tons of in school and out of school activites, with ALL proceeds going to a non-profit organization decided on by the Student Body Officers.  This year Bingham is raising funds for Project Strong, which provides summer camps for children with Muscular Distrophy.  Their goal is to raise $75,000.00 between Nov 29th - Dec 17th. The SBO's plan both in school and out of school activites Monday through Saturday and all students are invited to join in whichever activites they would like.  The activities range from a family carinival at the high school one night, a Mr. True Blue male beauty/talent pageant. They plan and host a party for local foster children (which is a favorite). They have lunch time games and contest that students pay to participate in.  Each week night. students are invited to gather at the school @ 6:00pm and each student government officer takes a group out into a neighborhoods within the school boundaries to ask for True Blue donations in exchange for fulfilling a task or providing service for that individual or family.  They call this sctivity 'Squad Jobs' and the students seriously LOVE it! YOu get to meet new people or hang out with people you know and do fun service activites or sing/dance numbers, or whatver is requested of them.  The SBO's do an amazing job or organizing all of the maos and details of all of these daily activites.  It is pretty mind blowing what 18 dedicated and devoted SBO's can do in one moths time, and all for a good cause.

In the above picture, Brenna is telling the Student Body about Penny Wars, one of the many aspects of True Blue.  Each grade has a water jug that their class president carryies around all day everyday. Students place as much change as possible in their particular grade's jug to try to raise the most money and win Penny Wars.  The only catch is--- any cash put into your jug, alctally deducts poibnts from your grades total. As soon as Brenna finshed talking,.... Seniors started running up to her with the Sophomore Jug, and puting $1's, $10's, & $20's in her jug to ensure they would win the Penny War.

 It was fun to be there together to support Brenna and always fun to feel the energy of Bingham assemblies. 

 

Sister Lindsay Miller

It'e been so fun to have Lindsay home, to hear about her mission, and to feel of the special spirit she brings to our family.  Missions are never easy, but the learning and growth that comes from that time of consecrated service is always worth it, and the relationships developed last forever.

LB MIssion Pres Note

 Dear Brother and Sister Miller,

 

It has been a privilege to have Sister Miller serve in the Brazil São Paulo South Mission. Even though her time here was limited, she has been a great blessing to the mission, the members, and the many people she was able to teach and invite to come unto Christ.

 

It is fitting that she finish her mission with the baptisms on the night before leaving. She is a natural leader, and we are grateful for her service as a Sister Training Leader and Trainer but more importantly for your daily leadership by example.

 

Just as one can count the number of seeds in an apple but not the number of apples in a seed, her influence will be felt for generations to come as those she taught influence others and help them also come closer to our Savior, Jesus Christ.

 

Thank you for raising such a wonderful daughter and for helping her to become the young lady that she is today. We are excited for her as she now begins a new chapter in her life.

Brazil São Paulo South Mission

1st Dental Visit

Kai went to the dentist for the 1st time today.  As you can guess, he LOVED IT!  He liked talking to the people, showing them his teeth, and most importantly......watching Cocomelon on the ceiling. With that perk, he wouldn't mind going to the dentist every single day if possible.

it was such a beautiful day for an outside game.  Sunshine and dandelions galore.

                            She had the Miller/Maynez crew out there to cheer her on.

So excited for the spring season to start.

 

World of Dance Audition

When Em started BYU in August she saw fliers for a BYU Hip Hop Club.  She had pretty much not danced for several months, and though she was nervous, she mustered up the courage to go by herself.  She pretty much killed it, and remebered how much she loves to dance and how good it is for her emotional/mental health.  She was now an official member of the Hip Hop Club,

Fast gforward a few weeks, and the instructor mentioned there would be auditions for a BYU Hip Hop Crew that week, and though she had some unresolved fears about audtions, she decide to go for it.   She made it!  She became anoffivial member of BYU's Blueprint.  They're 1st performace was at halftime of a BYU Women's Soccer game, which is a big crowd.  They danced at different gigs and shows on campus and throughout Utah and Salt Lake County.  

They saw that te TV show "World of Dance' was coming to do auditions in Salt Lake, so they submitted a video and were chosen to audition. Today was the day!!!!  Em LOVED every miunte of it.  She loved dancing with her crew on the big stage and especially being able to meet and talk with the judges. 

They said the crew was still 'early' in ther development, but they couldn't believe they'd only been dancing together for 2  months.  They got some good feedback on things they could work on and left on Cloud 9 - so grateful for this amazing opportunity.  You just never know what opportunites lie ahed when you work hard and trust in the Lord and in His timing.

 

Goodbye Jett

Our sweet Jett was diagnosed with Chronic Kidney failure a few weeks ago.  There is no cure, but the vett gave us some medications and  presciption kidney food to help his body function better and possibly prolong his life.  We didn't know how long he would live, and after a couple days of further decline, the girls from Provo came up to say Goodbye and we took him in for his Final Visit.

Marianne came over that morning to bring him his favorite treat. She came over again just before we headed to his appointment to see him and give him one final treat. These 2 are Forever Friends. She has always been his caregiver when we are gone and we've spent a lot of days on long walks with she and her dog Barney. If we let Jett lead on a walk. he will walk directly to Marianne's house, knowing all the right streets to turn on, and start scratching on her door.

End of life is definitely a sacred time, and it was no different with Jett. Glad these girls got to be there to love and support each other

The vett provided him one final treat (a mini Hershey's bar) and then off to sleep he went.

PSAT for Soph's

 

While Juniors and Seniors had the day off, our Sophomores spent the morning at Binhgam taking the PSAT. This is their first real college entrance test, that may give them an indication of of where there lie percentage wise amongst other sophomores across the country.
