Jenna J

Today we went to the Johnson's ward in Provo to hear Skyler speak about his mission to Mexico.  The girls were glad to get to see Jenna & Val, and we snapped a quick picture before we had to headback for our sacrament meeting. 

Scharman Wedding

These are not the newleywed's - but parents of the bride.

Chris and Amy's oldest daughter Hannah was married in their backyard today.  It was beautiful and full of sunflowers.  We sure love this family and can't imagine life without them.

Jenna's Reception

Today was Jenna and Val's wedding reception here in Provo at Riverside.  We got to meet Val a few years ago when they were visiting, and I'm so glad she net someone that makes her sooooo happy (not to mention a great dancing partner)

The next morning Skyler spoke in his ward sacrament meeting after returning home from his mission in Mexico.  The reception the previous night was adults only, so the girls were glad to get a chance to see Jenna & Jill & Gavin, and everyone after church.  

Jett's Surgery

Remember this x-ray - it has been well traveled throughout Veterinarian office in Utah as well as Arizona.  Jett's original doctor did not feel confident that the break could be repaired as there was not enough bone to work with.  Several other doctors agreed with that and we spent time considering amputation.  I sent the x-ray to my sister who lives on a farm in AZ and has a friend who is a vet.  He felt that a very specialized vet with 4 specific letters after his name (a VAMD - or something like) might be able to repair it.  

Aubs researched and found that there are 4 vets in the state of Utah that meet that qualification.  We were able to get an appointment with 1 of those 4 doctors up in Layton and upon reviewing the x-ray and spending a few minutes with Jett, he felt confident he could repair the break.  The surgery would involve pinning his bones fragments together with medal plates, and he said he had performed this surgery successfully several time, even on dog smaller than 6 pounds.  We scheduled surgery........

Surgery was successful!

He will need to  continued to be carried for several more weeks, as to not put any weight on that leg, but after a few months. he should continue to have a full, active life with ALL 4 LeGS!

Visit from Stewarts

So glad to get visit from Rily, Trenton & Presly.   We hope Idaho is trwaing them well, but we sure miss having them in our neighborhood.  Presly is getting bigger and talking so well!  We sure love this family and enjoy every minute we get to spend with them.

Girls Camp Plans

Girls Camp is less than 2 months away, and the YCL's (Youth Camp Leaders) plans are coming together.  Camp Cub assignments are out are we are all getting excited for camp!

Communicating with Kayla

This is what it is like communicating with Kayla.  We can not see her, but she can often see us.  Hearing her can be a little tricky, as we can often hear much more of what is going on around her than her.  But we are so grateful for the opportunity's we do have to communicate and hearing bits and pieces here and there is sure better than only hearing from her twice a year.  We'll take it!

Women's LAX

Lindsay joined the Women's 7's Summer League with a few of her friends.  

Many of the women who play are former college lax players.

Lindsay got asked to be a sub for the BYU team, so some Tuesday's she plays in 2 games and she LOVES it!

Did F45 Training with B today.  It was an awesome workout,  I love the circuits and the fast pace.  We pretty much Killed It!

Jett's X-ray

Not looking too good.  It's been almost 3 since the break, and it does not seem to be healing.  We'll have to decide where to go from here....

Saw one of Lindsay's co-workers out throwing pesticide packets into storm drains.  I'm yet to see Lindsay when I'm out, but I love seeing other Mosquito Abatement workers.

K's Call -1 year ago

Can't believe it's been 1 year since Kayla opened her mission call.  What an amazing expereince this has ben for her and our whole family.  We miss her tremendously, but are reminded almost daily of the Lord's tender mercy and watchcare over His missionaries and their families.

Jett Healing

Jett is still on the mend.  He seems to have adjust to the cast and can get around on 3 legs (dragging his cast)  He will go back for more x-rays in a week or so to check how the leg is healing,

Somehow we ended up with the Jeep for day.  No top, no doors, and lots of wind blown hair.

Mosquitos Beware

Hey guys, it's Lindsay. This summer I worked at the South Salt Lake Valley Mosquito Abatement District (say that 5x fast) every day. My job was to bike around the Valley throwing mosquito pesticide into storm drains to maintain public health. I took this job because lots of my older sister's friends recommended it, and then my childhood friend Mikaela Naegle ended up working there too! Here we are on our first day, wearing our helmets, Camelbacks full of water, and bright orange shirts to make sure that people can see it. It was my first time having a public job in a few years, and working 40 hours a week outside in the sun was a lot, but it was super fun! Got some nearly tan lines too so that was funny. 

Time to Party

1st Dinner/Swim Party of the Summer.  This party was for Emily dance team and their parents, just under 100 people.  This yard can handle a big crowd and we love having people over.

Farewell Seattle

We really don't know what to expect when Lindsay decided she wanted to check out Seattle, but we definitely fell in love with this city.  

                                            Our house on the water at Alki Beach was the BEST! 

 We will missing hearing the ocean, and watching the tide come in and out.  We will miss seeing dogs everywhere we go.  We will miss exploring a new city for the first time (underground literally)

and we will especially miss our time together with few responsibilities or distractions.  Walking, hiking, biking, kayaing, we did it all together with endless talking and lots of laughing.  

Love you guys!  Grateful we got to spend this week together!

Gates Foundation

 Gates Foundation Discovery Center.  

Here they house models and information about many of the projects the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation is involved with.  We could have stayed here all day, reading and learning about so many different projects and ways they are contributing to help others become more self sufficient throughout the globe.  Their presence can literally be felt in small villages in Africa and large library's in New York City.  Their work and involvment is way more expansive than I ever could have imagines.  Oh how Kayla would love this place.  

Stoves to replace cooking on open fire inside homes.  We learned about this first hand in the mountains of Guatemala.  You know their life expectency is cut short when living in the unhealthy air created by open flames  These simple stoves provide a solution to create safe homes and better health families and entire villages.

'SHE28' uses trunk fibers from banana farmers to make pads for girls and women.  Similar to 'Days for Girls', this can change girls and womens lives.  I so admire those who come of up creative solutions using the limit resources available in different parts of the world, to improve lives.  

Portable cooler for transporting vacinnations.  So crucial and life changing for soooo many throughout the world.  We've got the medical technology to crreate vaccinates that we know can save lives, but often getting them to the people that need them most in the biggest obstacle.  

Clean Water - So CRUCIAL and we have learned that small investments in clean water have HIGE returns in the health and safety of millions of people.  

The need is this world is so great, and can somtimes feel overwhelming, but to see the resources and manpower being invested to help mankind is totally awe inspiring.  So awe inspiring!  Oneof the many things I loved about the Discovery Center was it gave each visitor an opportunity to ponder what they could do to Make A Differnce.  They had little sheets to fill out about your 'Action Items, and the actions you can take to Make The World a Better Place.
