Feeling Hot HOt HOT

Hot yoga for us this morning.  There were moments we thought me might die, or at least melt, but we made it through 90 minutes of yoga in a 105 degree room.  We came out a little delirious, but still smiling!

Brenna & Makayla

Just a few pics from this week of B and Makayla.  These girls were friends back in Kindergarten - 2nd grade.  Then Brenna moved into the ALPS track (tracks here are like these tall invisible fences that you don't climb or cross)  It's the craziest thing.  You could go to school with someone for years, but not even know them if you were on different 'tracks'.  Anyway, after 3 years of ALPS, Brenna returned to her original track C, and her friendship with Makayla was quickly reunited.  They have been by each others side every sense.  Makayla is very much part of our family (as is Lizze, Caroline, Tessa, Ellie, Mia, Megan, Elsie, etc.) and Brenna is very much a part of Makayla's family (She is loved by Phil, Lydia, Ashley, Andrew, Jackson, & Harrison.

Seriously, these girls do about everything together and we love it.  We are completely ignoring the fact that Makayla and her family will be moving away at the end of July, so don't EVEN ask about it.

Swing Dance Champions

Dillan and Brenna were crowned this years Swing Dance Champions.  They had spent time in and outside if school practicing their turns, dips, and flips and were so excited to be this years winners.  Enjoy a little Swing Dancin'

6th Grade Dance

Makayla & Brenna all ready for the big Dance.  These girls have been talking about the 6th grade dance for years now.  Years.  They planned out their matching outfits weeks ago and Makayla spent the night so they could get ready together this morning.  This is 'big time FUN' at Jordan Ridge.

We so LOVE these cute girls!  Have so much fun dancing with all your friends!

Lindz is Provo Bound

Lindz hopped on the FrontRunner Train this afternoon to go hang out with Aubrey and Elan in Provo.  I love having the convenience of the train and LOVE how awesome Elan & Aubrey are to have the girls down to stay with them.  They always have fun stuff planned and stay up until the wee hours of the morning talking, making Krispy Kreme runs, and playing Mario Cart.  We never could have imagined how much the girls would love their brother-in-law and how good they would be to Aubs younger sisters.  Have fun Lindz!

Drill Camp

Tonight Lindz and I went to down to see the Minerettes during their last afternoon at camp
It was the 1st time we had seen this group dance together

The SOPHMORES

Elsie & Em jumping

and showing off their best 'Military Faces'

Bingham Minerettes

Em and her friend Morgan  She danced with Morgan at RMD for years and she was one of my YW.   Morgan's now a BYU Cougarette who was teaching at this camp.  We LOVE Morgan!

This years Award Winners - Emily was so proud to be a part of this group

She was voted Most Improved and she said she worked her tail off 12-13 hours a day dancing, learning, and giving it everything she had. Now she's dead tires and ready to head home and sleep in her own bed.

Father's Day

We showered Robert with some of his Practical Favorites:
A new book - this is one he had partially listened to awhile back, but I knew he'd enjoy reading.
Socks and Ties - when you wear a suit multiple times a week, it's nice to shake it up with some new socks and ties
BBQ tools - I think he's current ones are falling apart - though he's using his Pizza Oven tools almost as much as his BBQ tools now
and very much needed basketball shoes - he stills play basketball at 5:30 am 3 times a week.  I LOVE that he continues to play regularly.  He says he's lost his 'hops' but I think he's still VERY good.
We finished off the night with his favorite dessert - Jello Poke Cake.

State Debate - 2nd Place

Winners of this years Utah State Debate Tournament 2018

Brenna and Mara came in 2nd Place in State!  Yay!

With Ms. Walton and the other Jordan Ridge students that made it to State this year.  Jordan Ridge Elementary probably has the largest presence in Debate for the Salt Lake Valley.  The State Debate Tournament is put on for 6th graders, but students who are enrolled in the ALPS (Accelerated Learning Program) they can begin participating as 5th graders. Being that the ALPS program is housed at Jordan Ridge, that allows many more students to participate and the ALPS teachers are very committed to keeping the Debate program strong year after year.

These 2 LOVED Debate.  They would get together for hours researching, collecting facts and quotes, and organizing rebuttals for any possible argument they may come across. They seriously loved it and are a little sad it has come to an end.  Congrats to both of you!!

Bingham Varsity MVP 2018 - LINDZ

Congrats to Lindsay being named Most Valuable Player for 2018.
I think this is the only picture I got at the Lacrosse Banquet, but there was one  moment that night that is permanently etched in my mind.  When the Coach announced the Varsity MVP as Lindsay Miller, all of her teammates jumped up in excitement and gave her a standing ovation as she received the award. Though the MVP award is heavily based on merits and on the field accomplishments,  there are also elements of team leadership snd good sportsmanship.  Lindsay is a phenomenal athlete, but an even BETTER person!
There is a quote I love by Ezra Taft Benson (13th Prophet in the Latter Days) that says,
"No accomplishment transcends the building of character in a son or daughter of God"
We are so proud of Lindsay and all of her academic and athletic accomplishments, but it is her character - it is who she is as a daughter of God that will change the world the most!
