Gates Foundation Discovery Center.
Here they house models and information about many of the projects the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation is involved with. We could have stayed here all day, reading and learning about so many different projects and ways they are contributing to help others become more self sufficient throughout the globe. Their presence can literally be felt in small villages in Africa and large library's in New York City. Their work and involvment is way more expansive than I ever could have imagines. Oh how Kayla would love this place.
Stoves to replace cooking on open fire inside homes. We learned about this first hand in the mountains of Guatemala. You know their life expectency is cut short when living in the unhealthy air created by open flames These simple stoves provide a solution to create safe homes and better health families and entire villages.
'SHE28' uses trunk fibers from banana farmers to make pads for girls and women. Similar to 'Days for Girls', this can change girls and womens lives. I so admire those who come of up creative solutions using the limit resources available in different parts of the world, to improve lives.
Portable cooler for transporting vacinnations. So crucial and life changing for soooo many throughout the world. We've got the medical technology to crreate vaccinates that we know can save lives, but often getting them to the people that need them most in the biggest obstacle.
Clean Water - So CRUCIAL and we have learned that small investments in clean water have HIGE returns in the health and safety of millions of people.
The need is this world is so great, and can somtimes feel overwhelming, but to see the resources and manpower being invested to help mankind is totally awe inspiring. So awe inspiring! Oneof the many things I loved about the Discovery Center was it gave each visitor an opportunity to ponder what they could do to Make A Differnce. They had little sheets to fill out about your 'Action Items, and the actions you can take to Make The World a Better Place.
