Minnieland

Brenna loves Minnie Mouse. This trip she wanted to wear her Minnie dress and yellow Minnie 'high heels'. She wore those shoes for 2 long days at Disneyland, no stroller, and never said a word about them. She was in heaven, especially when she got to see Minnie herself. Check out those heels.
A few soaked girls. I learned awhile ago, that I don't dry off from this ride for several hours, so I now pass, but the girls love it.

Ohhh, Minnie and Minnie!
I think Coda liked Lindsay.
Happy to be at the Happiest Place on Earth.
One more view of B in her Minnie outfit.

Temples

Temples are in integral part of our lives. We believe that they are 'The House of the Lord' and we go there often to be taught, receive revelation, and perform ordinances for those who have come before us, but did not receive those sacred ordinances during their mortal lives. You can learn more about 'temples' by going to http://www.mormon.org/ and typing 'temples' in the search box. Robert and I were married and sealed to one another for time and all eternity in the Los Angeles Temple (the famous doors shown above) 15 years ago next month. Since that time, we have performed many sealings for other couples who may not have known or didn't have the opportunity to be sealed during this life. Each time we do this, we are reminded of our own wedding day and the sacred commitments and promises we made to God and each other. It felt good to be able to take the girls back to where it all began.

Now that Aubrey is 12, she is able to hold a limited-use temple recommend and go inside any temple to perform 'Baptisms for the Dead'. (Definitely worth reading about on http://www.mormon.org/) Here she is at the Los Angeles Temple Baptistry where I did baptism for the dead when I was her age. Unfortunately, the temple was closed on the day we were able to visit, but we arranged for her to be able to do baptism in the Newport Beach Temple the following day.
Here are some of the girls outside the Newport Beach Temple.

Newport Beach

The girls love the beach!
Playing on the local elementary school playground. Can you imagine going to school here?
Brenna trying out the skim board

Our family loves the ocean. We've talked about living closer to the ocean, but realize that with our busy day-to-day schedules, we probably wouldn't take advantage of it as much as we think, so we're better off just vacationing there so we can enjoy it fully without all of our normal responsibilities. We rented a beach house in Newport and we were definitely able to fully enjoy it. You just can't beat the view and listening to the waves crash day and night. It was so nice. The girls were able to play in the sand, find zillions of cool shells, and play on the toys at a nearby school playground. It was a spacious house that slept 7 with a full kitchen and a patio. We could play in the water and walk right back to the house to warm up, as it was pretty chilly. Just a really, really great place to kick back and relax and we loved every minute of it.

So Cal Ragnar

This is where the craziness all started. Two sisters, Me and Ally, and a desire to run together. Last year I flew down to AZ to run a half marathon with her in Queen Creek. This year we met in So Cal, with 10 of our closest friends, to run a 200 mile relay from Ventura to Dana Point. I started the race in Ventura on Friday at 8:30 am. Each person ran 3 legs ranging in distance between 3 - 10 miles per leg. Upon completion of your leg you passed the baton (slap stick wrist bracelet) onto the next runner. This pattern continued for 31 hours and 20 minutes, until reaching the finish line on the beach in Dana Point.
Here's Leo and Amber 'rolling out' after their runs. Leo and Amber are good friends of ours that joined our team around Christmas. Neither had ever run before, and they did AWESOME!

Mike passing off to Robert. Robert was able to experience every minute of his 35th birthday, as there is not much sleeping during a Ragnar. Happy Birthday Babe!
Mike on his way, with us stopping to cheer him on. Sometimes you ran by other Ragnar runners, but often times you were just out there by yourself.
Night falls, and we just keep on going. Loving those new Ragnar vests.

The adventure gets quite interesting in the night hours. Running through Hollywood at midnight and Venice at 3:00 am. You'd be surprised how many people (often intoxicated people) are still out and about at the wee hours of the night and morning. Mike ran through Beverly Hills. Leo ran through other not so nice areas and made some not so nice friends. Sorry.

Amy finished her final run along the coast. Amy had a very long and emotional week leading up to the race and we were so glad she could be there and we could share this experience together.
A photo op. between runs.
Robert handing off to Ally. You go girl! Al is a very strong runner.

Catching a few zzz's whenever and wherever possible.
The FINISH LINE. Nothing better than seeing the finish line after a 200 mile race. The set up was awesome and we were glad that our extended families were able to come and meet us there.
Our team - SOLE TRAIN
Van #1 All from South Jordan - Homestead Neighborhood and best of friends.
Me and my baby, with a few of our children playing in the ocean behind us.
Thanks to everyone. You guys are awesome. I can't believe we're doing this again in less than 2 months.

Beach House

This was the view from our beach house in Newport. It was such a great place. Slept 7 in beds, fit 8 at the table, full kitchen, 2 bedrooms, very spacious, patio with a BBQ, surf board, beach chairs, sand toys, and was right on the sand. There is also a public elementary school just down the path with a large playground built right on the sand. It's open to the public during non-school hours and we usually had the whole place to ourselves.

It was so nice to be able to go to the ocean, and then right back to the house when we got cold, as it was a little chilly.
If anyone is ever looking for a beach house to rent, I would love to forward you the info on this one. It worked out great for our family.

JSD 5K

This morning we ran a 5K to raise money for the Jordan School District Education Foundation. It was down by the River trail in South Jordan, so it was nice and close. Everyone ran, except Brenna.

Our fam won 4 medals in this race.
Robert was 1st in his division and 3rd overall. Lookin' good.
I was 3rd in my division.
Kayla was 1st in her division and was congratulated by Cosmo himself. We also got a "Cosmo - Back to the Future' movie to take home to Brenna. Now there's a classic for ya.

Aubrey came on 3rd in her division.
Here's Lindz and Emi crossing the finishing line together. They cut 6 minutes off their previous personal records. Good job girls! It's a fun way to start a Saturday!

Zipline

We found this great 150 foot long zipline at a park in Daybreak. It was tons of fun. Here's Emi flying down the line.
It also has this slide, which Odie enjoyed, that starts at the street/sidewalk level and ends in the basin of the park. I love living in South Jordan. I should start a blog about all the great things to do, see, and enjoy in South Jordan.

Skiing

The ski season here in Utah is coming to an end. We thought we better hit the slopes a few more times before the resorts close. Monday we took AJ, KJ, and LB, to Alta. Friday Robert and I spent the day at the Canyons, and after our race our Saturday, we took the girls back to Alta one last time. I don't know about anybody else, but my quads are tired! Here is the toy tree just off to the side of a lift at the Canyons. Unfortunately, we had nothing to add to the exhibit.
Here comes Linz in her purple coat. I like that Lindz and Kay have unique snow coats (one is purple and the other bright coral and brown) because I could always spot them. Aubrey, on the other hand, totally blended in with the crowds in her black snow coat.
Here's K getting in line for another run. The girls have improved a lot this year. So much so, that we bought them helmets for next year.

Now that Aubrey has the basics down, she has decided to become the acrobat skier, going off the marked path as well as going off jumps. She learned these tricks by following Robert, not me. And Lindz only seems to know one speed, super fast. Hence, the helmets.
It's been fun to be able to ski with our girls this season, and hope to get the next two up on skis soon.
