Oh, the dreaded College Board. It shouldn't be dreaded, but you also shouldn't have to spend 7+ hours on the phone with them just so you have the right to purchase an AP Test. When Emily went to create her account for the 1st time with the College Board, it said she already had an account. Well, unfortunately, she doesn't, or atleast she didn't at that point. She tried emailing the 'board' and calling and waiting on holding for 45+ minutes fro someone to tell her she must be doing somethng wrong or simply try again later. She was hung up on, she was told "your day and my day would go much better if you would just listen to what I told you to do and do it" (that being to wait 24 hours and try again)
We were so proud of her for her persistance and ability to stay calm and continue to fight her case.
Here was an email she sent to her firends at the College Board after making no progress with the wokers on the phone.
Hello, this is Emily Miller. I am currently enrolled in my first AP class and am trying to create an account on collegeboard.org.I have paid for the exam and registered with Bingham High School, but I still have to make this account, which has a deadline of midnight tonight. I have already attempted to create this account multiple times and have been on the phone with many people from your account help number, but I've never been successful and I've been told to wait and try again or hung up on. After I submit all of my information to create a new account, a page comes up that says "You already have a College Board account username: JO*******3/ email address: j*********@
gmail.com)." I have never attempted to make an account before and the email I submitted is the one I'm sending this email from, which obviously doesn't correlate to the email the message gives me. I have cleared my web history (as suggested), used a different address (as suggested), used different computers (as suggested), and given it time (as suggested), but everything has come back with the same page. Please email me back with a possible solution or any ideas on how I can succeed in creating an account and getting my exam ordered. Again, the deadline for me to register is tonight at midnight so I hope there are some accommodations available for this circumstance.

With the final test deadline looming, and no one willing to believe that she REALLY DID NOT have an account, it started to get a little more heated. She asked to speak with a Supervisor, and was quickly told a supervisor would not be able to help her created an account as they can NOT be created over the phone. Persistance. Persistance, Persistance. Can I please talk to your supervisor, Can I please talk with your supervisor, Can I please talk to your supervisor.
Finally gets supervisor on the phone (making progress). Explains the situation for the 14-millionth time and the supervisor apologizes but saus there is nothing she can do, as she can not create an account over the phone. Yada-Yada-Yada.
Emily contines to be persistance and asks if they can take away her right to take the test by not allowing her an account. More time on hold..... (now I had to check Emily out of school for today's phone call as well as yesterdays phone call, so she is now missing school over this) and then.........the miracle happens!
The woman starts asking for her information AGAIN. She's given this info to multiple people, multiple times, over multiple days, so no reason to stop giving it now. She is placed on hold AGAIN, and when the women returns to the phone line, an account had miraculously been created for Emily Autumn Miller from Bingham High School. (Side note, we do not know if the fact there is another Emily Miller at Bingham High School in her same grade had anything to do with this problem)
At this point, I think Emily should pass the AP Test just for her pre-test efforts. This was a marathon of a project, but she is finally registered and ready to take the AP Lang testi n the Spring,
