Skiing Brighton

Today we headed up to Brighton after Robert and Elan got off work for some Night Skiing.
Mom and Aubs stayed in the lodge this time to watch as Aubs no longer feels up to skiing.

Brenna, Elan, Lindz, and Robert

Such a beautiful night up in the canyon

We had dinner together up there and everything looked great, so the crew decided to keep skiing.
No one saw the quickly approaching storm moving into the canyon.  By their final run, the winds were whipping and the snow was coming down hard.  So crazy how fast the weather can change up there, but rain, sun, or snow, it always good to be on the slopes!

Lindsay LAX vs Jordan

Lindz had a great game against Jordan.  I love watching this girl play and appreciate Marc Gibson taking such great action shot of our girls during games.

A side note that I want to remember down the road.  When Aubrey started playing lacrosse she was #14, which is our family #.  (Do all family's have family #'s???)
Since Kayla and Aubrey played together at Bingham - Kayla chose to wear #21 during her Bingham years.
By the time Lindsay got to Bingham, Aubrey had graduated, so Lindsay chose to not only be #14, but to wear Aubs actual uniforms.  Lots of tradition and honor in those uniforms.

You Rock Lindz!  Go #14!

Baby Progress

Aubs baby bump is is starting to show.  Baby Maynez is growing in there.  If Mom being sick is any indication of a healthy baby, this baby must be doing GREAT! Aubrey throws up many times a day wherever she is.  Trash cans, parking lots, sides of the freeway, etc. She has gotten very familar with the BYU bathrooms and has been blessed with so many kind strangers offereing her hair ties or even to hold back her hair while she is sick and doesn't have time to shut the stall doors.  She will forever be a friend and helper to other that expereince hard pregnancy's

But look a that Baby!!!!!! Knowing it is growing and doing well makes it ALL worth it!

James Bay Concert

Chris and the ladies at the James Bay Concert.
We LOVE the Scharmans!

Side note: We use this Blog as a Family Journal.  We try to capture some of our day to day activities with the hope that as we look back on them, they will remind us and evoke memories and feelings associated with those experiences.

This particular photo evokes lots of memories and emotions for me and I want to make sure the story of how these 2 family's came together is documented, since there are lots of  stories not documented by photos.

Millers Meet Scharmans
In 2008, Emily was in kindergarten at Jordan Ridge.  She came home one day and told me that her friends Mom had broken her knee.  I thought that was sad and said why don't you get your friends phone # and I will call her mom.

I called the Mom and told her that her daughter had told my daughter about her broken knee and I wondered if I could drive her home after Kindergarten while she recovered.  She said that would be GREAT, and that is where it all began.

I started picking up Mia and Emily after kindergarten, which was around lunch time and I would take Mia home, or take the girls to lunch or to our house to play.  I met Amy, Mia's mom and we immediately became friends.  We realized that we had older girls who were also the same age, Lindsay and Ellie, and that is how it all started!

Lindsay and Ellie  played soccer together through elementary and middle school with their Dads - Robert & Chris as their coaches.   After years of playing soccer together,  Lindsay convinced  Ellie to try Lacrosse when she was a freshman, and they played their 4 years of high school together. From there, Mia decided to play lacrosse as well.  Both girls are SUPER good at lacrosse.   This season, their Dad Chris became the Bingham Varisty Assistant Coach, so he coached Lindz, Ellie & Mia, with Emily cheering for them from the side lines.

Amy and I continue to be best of friends as well.  We love to walk and hike and have shared so many of the ups and downs of life together these past 11 years.  Just wanted to document how our family's met and how much the Scharmans have influenced and blessed our lived for good.

Final Performance 2018-19 Team

Emily's 1st year as a Minerette is coming to an end.  Tonight they performed as a team for the last time, while Robert performed for the 1st time in the annual Dad Dance.  It was was fun to see all of their dances once last time.  We will miss these awesome girls and their families, especially our senior girls and thir parents who have led this program from day one.  I have never before seen girls work so hard on the dance floor, or parents work so hard behind the scenes to support and the girls and the Minerette program.

Love You Girls!!!

Final LAX Tourney

Lindsay's last year playing in the Gathering of the Tribes Tournament.  It was a Friday/Saturday Tourney that involved the Boys & Girls teams, so that is always fun to be able to watch the boys play as well.  They spent most of Thursday afternoon and Friday morning shoveling snow off the fields, but by afternoon many could be found playing in just their skort and penny.

Such a fun weekend of lacrosse.  I'm definitely not ready for her senior season to end!

Where's Jett?

I came out of the office to find a bin of stuffed animals in the living room.  I took no notice that Jett was part of it.

Filipino Food

We were meeting up with Dan & Abby for dinner and decided to try a new Filipino Restaurant that opened recently.  They are both serious travelers, so we knew they'd be game for trying new things, though we all shied away from the Blood Stew.

Visiting with them was so great, as it has been awhile since we've been together, but the food was just so-so.   We have been blessed with friends who grew up in the Philippines or lived in Cebu for a time that have cooked for us, and I defintely enjoyed their home cooking more than this.

Good company - not so good food.

Present Time

Jett was Lindsay's helper to open all her presents

She got all sorts of fun treasures. New thread wallet, wireless ear buds, clothes

and possibly her favorite  - fuzzy llama socks

Cake Time

Watching her blow out the candles was a little emotional for me.  It's a little sad knowing this her last birthday living at home.
We love Lindsay and the goodness she shares with everyone.  She is beautiful in every way and such a joy to have in our family!

Lindsay Bday Weekend

This cute girl turned 18 today!  It feels like she went from 10 to 18 really fast.
Oh how we Love  Love Love our Lindsay Lou.  She is kind, gentle, compassionate, and always a pleasure to be around.  She is a peacemaker and a very good friend to so many.  She loves to laugh, have fun, go on adventures and hang out with her friends.  She works hard at everything she does - from school work to lacrosse to her jobs at home.  She is fiercely loyal and a natural leader and someone that people feel very safe and comfortable around.   She never seeks the lime light and is always serving those around her, whether she knows them personally or not.
With her busy birthday plan, we did a family Breakfast at Penny Ann's, which worked well because I think most of the girls like breakfast more than any other meal.  Aubs came up to join us and then took Lindsay to the BYU Girls Lacrosse Game down in Provo.  The theme for the game was Pajamas, and Lindsay was chosen as the 'Fan of the Game' and featured on their Instragram feed.

From there, she took the train back up to South Jordan to get ready for a birthday date with Jeremy.  He made arrangements to take her to Prom with another couple from a different school.  Lindsay's besties - Megan & Caroline - came over to help her get all dolled up for the night.

Lindsay and Jeremy as they headed off to Riverton Prom.  I think she was also look back at this birthday as one of her favorites, because she got to spend it doing things with so many of the people she loves. Happy 18th BIRTHDAY Lindz!  We sure love you and are so grateful you are part of our family!

Birthday Buddies

I took balloons to Jeremy and Lindsay's cars today.  Luckly they always park in the same spot everyday.  That made it easy!

These 4 special kiddos all have a BIRTHDAY this weekend!
Caroline, Deign, Jeremy & Lindsay
We love each one of these kids as our own, so we gave them our credit card and said go enjoy lunch together on us!  There must have been something special in the air in early March 2001 because thes kiddos seriously arebring so much joy and laughter into Lindsay life and our home!  Love you guys!
