Kay turns 21

Happy 21st Birthday to this Disneyland loving girl.  I wish we could have celebrated at Mickey's house, but for this year, I guess our house will do.

Her first official BYU lacrosse shirt and some new lacrosse gear

and ROCK CLIMBING gear.  Now if we can just find time to go climbing

Celebrated with a pumpkin cake and some Filipino ice cream. Here's to another great year!

K surprises B

Kayla drove up to surprise Brenna at her lacrosse game tonight.  B was beyond excited to see her holding a 'That's My SISTER!' poster on the sidelines after the game (she didn't notice her while she was playing)

When we were raising these 5 girls, we never predicted what amazing women they would each grow up to become.  They are all 5 extremely busy, but it never ceases to amaze me how much they do to love and lift others, from their own sisters to random strangers.  I should probably write a whole post about who they are and who they are becoming, as it far exceeds any of the expectations I had for our family.
Not only did Brenna have a surprise supporter from Provo, she also had Aubs, Elan, Kai, Charlie,
Emily J, & Jett all at her game cheering her on.  We are all surrounded by a lot of love and kindness!!

Minerette Hip Hop

These girls were able to perform for the 1st time this year.
Friday night they performed during HalfTime of the Football game and again Saturday morning at the Astra Waller Memorial Walk.  This is a video I got Saturday morning.  Em is in the front left side starting at about the 48 yard line.  I keep her in the middle of the frame most of the time. Fun to finally see them dance together!

Eyebrow Stitches for Em (Bloody pics)

Emi drove home from TAT with gauze on her eye.  She was sprinting and tripped as she tried to slow down and hit her eye on a bar attached to the wall. Oooops.  She just kept going until people told her she was bleeding.  She got it covered up, fnished up, and headed home.

I couldn't bare to look it at, so I Facetimed Ally and let her give me the verdict.
Yep......Stitches Needed.

Kay and Dad tok her to Riverton Hospital to get stitched up.

By the end of the night, she was good to go.  Ready to perform tomorrow!

Horsetail Falls with JETT

Look at our little 'mountain goat' Jett go

Going straight through the stream

Try to use the log this time. but no go

We try to take Jett on most hikes with us IF we aren't hiking near a water shed.  He ornally rides in his carrier (see Emily's back) or his sling, or sweatshirt pouch.  He's got a lot of options.

Today we thought we'd see if he could handle the terrain and the incline as we hiked up to Horsetail Falls. He was a total rock star.  Totally capable of way more than we thought he was.  We have beeb underestimating his potential.  We sis carry him for the portion show above when you had to hold onto a rope for a descend.  We also helped him down, as he didn't have as much control on the steep and slippery rocks going down.

The Crew - we'd never seen Horsetail Falls and they were beautiful, the water cascading down the rocks.  It reminded us a liitle of the Cars ride at Disneyland

We got to spend much of our hike talking with Lindsay on her preparation day, which always makes it feel like she is with us.  Such a beautiful morning for a beautiful hike.

Kai Fun

I think I'll always remeber, but I know how quickly I forget all of the fun stages we get to experience with Kai. Learning to eat yogurt by himself

Tipping his head alllll the way back to make sure his food goes down into his tummy

Playing with the pool filter basket.  He loves the pool filter area almost as much as her loves the pool.  We have spent a lot of time sitting on the concrete pulling the basket out and putting it back in.

Surprise visit from Kayla.  He spent the first 9 months of his life seeing a life size cut out of Kay, but he quickly transitioned to loving the real Kayla. He seriously has the best Aunties ever!

Sunday deliveries in the Jeep

I know I've posted about Sunday Deiveries in Jesse before, but here's some more recent outings.
The girls love to bake treats on Sundays to deliver and then we decide who could use a little treat or pick me up.  Our delivery vehicle of choice is of course, Jesse.

Seminary Decals

The Bingham Seminary theme for the 2020-21 school year is:
Come, For He Has Not Forgotten you

Each year the Seminary Council chooses ways to introduce and share the theme with the student body.
In past years they have done large banners, rubber braclets, handouts, etc.  This year they decided to do decals to go on people's water bottles, notebooks, wherever they want to put them to remind them that the Savior Has Not Forgotten Them.

It was a priviledge for our family to make 2300 of these decals to donate to the Seminary.  We hope these will be a great reminder that our lives and our hearts are engraven upon our Savior's hands through his Atonement and Resurrection. His love is infinte, personal, and unconditional.

They made it up to the top in 5 hours, and back down in 6 hours after hiking a few extra miles on the descend losing track of the actual trail.

Her Crew-Ammon, Nate, Parker, & Chad.
These guys did all the planning and prep work and she was honored to be invited on such a big adventure with them.

BYU Lacrosse - Kayla

Congrats to this girl on making the BYU Lacrosse team.  She is sooooo excited to play the game that she LOVES again.  After her life altering concussion during her final home game in high school, we thought her lacroose career was over. Who knew that 3+ years later, she would fight back and join a college level team to play a sport she LOVES for the university that she LOVES!

Kay never lost her desire to play.  She had several companions on her mission that were runners, and she continued to run with them,  She returned home from her mission almost 3 years after her final lacrosse game and decided to pick up her stick again.  She started running with her stick, playing wall ball, and joined a womens lacrosse league here in Salt Lake that is full of collegiate and post collegiate athletes.

Her desire to 'play the game' again increased, though she wasn't sure she could balance being a college athlete with all she is trying to accomplish within her Public Health stuff, academically keeping her double scholarships and still serve in meaningful ways.  She also wasn't sure if this was the Lord's will for her.  She moved forward in faith, working hard and trusting in Him, acknowledging her desire to always put His will before her own.

Tryouts began at 5:45am, the same time daily practice will be held, and she set out to have fun and do her best.  There were about 70 athletes (including last years team members) vying for 30 spots and she said they were ALL good! She began to make friends and knowing there were so many girls at BYU who were so good at lacrosee, she considered getting people's numbers to put together pick-up games for those who didn't make the team, thinking she would love to continue to play sometimes even if just in pick-up games.

She made it through the first round of cuts.  Beyond excited, she returned again for another round of tryouts,  and was happy with her level of play.  Though she never played defense in high school, they were having her run the defensive plays and she did well in thet position.

8 hours after her final tryout she recieved an email from Coach Nikki congratulating her on making the team.  The email came as she was driving to our house to get gear to hike Kings Peak. When she got in and read the email. she could hardly believe it.  She had done it!  What may have seemed like an impossible goal 3+ years ago, had now become a reality. She now joins Lindsay in the ranks as an official BYU Lacrosse player and she is ready to hit the ground running when pratcice starts this week.  Congrats KayJ!

Senior Year

1st day of Senior Year for Em. Her team has been quarantined for the last 2 weeks, so while everyone once started school in August, she started her classes all online.  So happy to be heading to school this morning.  You'll be awesome Em! Have so much FUN!!
