Lindsay was asked to speak in our sacrament meeting about 'Hearing and Heeding the Promptings of the Holy Ghost' She is a great example of listening to the quiet promptings of the spirit and acting upon those imporessions. She has an amazing ability to connect with people and build them up, from team mates, to friends, to those she greets on the streets. She is a humble disciple of Jesus Christ and desires to share the good news of His gospel with all who want to know Him or know Him better. Her genuine love for others will allow her to share His love with those she meets. Love you Sister Miller!

Emily turns 17
Happy 17th Birthday Emily Autumn!
This is has been quite a year for her. She has worked hard, played hard, strengthened friendships, strengthened her relationship with her Savior, set goals, acheived goals, and danced her way through it all.
Probably her favorite part of the day was going to the park in the afternoon to play frisbee with a friend. They were playing down in the basin of the park and then someone started yelling Happy Birthday.......she looked up the hill and there was an army of people headed towards yelling her name. This girl has great friends, and I believe a lot of that has to do with how she treats others. She is really is a friend to everyone.
She is still as animated as she was as a toddler, when we thought she should be in silent films.
Her big present this year was New Seats for the Jeep.
Testing them out in the kitchen.
We had a picnic lunch at the park where she and sisters worked on lacrosse stick tricks and minerette dance tricks.
One of her favorite presents was her very own bolo tie (she wore a borrowed one for her yearbook picture this year)
Happy 17th Birthday Babe! You are amazing in so many ways!
I know she doesn't like to focus on accomlishments, but I'm going to share a few so that one day her posterity can know a little more about her youth:
-Minerette President
-Bingham Seminary Council
-Lifelong 4.0 Student
-Queen of AP Lang (her favorite class)
-31 on the ACT
-Distingushed Young Women representing the State of Utah 2020
-Fasest runner on Varsity LAX before dropping off the team
-Drives the BEST decorated Jeep (Lights up at Night)
-Always reads scriptures BEFORE starting her homework (*life changing)
-Has lists of her peers birthday and does somthing creative for each one
-Believes she is Kai's favorite Aunt
-Always thinking of others
-Extremely comfortable with who she is and who she is striving to be

More Slumber Parties
The nightly slumber parties have now moved from indoors to outdoors. You never know where you'll find this crew when you wake up in the morning....or at what hour they actually went to sleep the night before, but we LOVE how much they LOVE to be all together!
Teachers Change Lives
As I've been out doing home visits for Outstanding Educators the past few weeks, I have met some amazing teachers and have been reunited with some of the amazing teachers that have touched our family's lives. On this day, we were in the neighborhood our fmaily used to live in, honoring Linda Woolf as the Outstanding Educator from Welby Elementary. One of the teachers that joined us in the street celebration was Mrs. Lauritzen -pictured above. She was Kayla's kindergarden teacher and her caring influence completely changed the course of Kayla's life.
Here is a write up from KSL News about Mrs. Lauritzen 2019 KSL Teacher of the Year
15 years ago Kayla first met Mrs. Lauritzen at her Kindergarden Assessment. She recognized that Kayla was gifted and after a few days of having her in class, she asked us to meet with her and the principal about doing a grade advancement. This was something she had never done before, so we were learning the ropes together. Kayla went through all kinds of testing through the district. I would drop her off, and they would take her from specialist to specialist doing all sorts of evaluations, IQ testing, and interviews to gauge her social and emotional maturity,
After 3 weeks of attending morning kindergarden in Mrs. Lauritzen's class, she was moved to Mrs. Salloom's full day 1st grade class. It was a perfect fit for Kay - academically and socially and we will forever be grateful to Mrs, Lauritzen for her wilingness to pursue grade advancement for Kay. Her love for her students indivudally, as demonstrated in the article above, and for her willingness to see Kayla's needs and address them, even though that meant losing her as a student, will never be forgotten. We are soooo very grateful for these wonderful teachers that touch and bless the lives of the students in our district.

SoJo SBO President
Congrats to this girl for being elected SBO President for the 2020-21 school year. She has been in Student Government since I think 4th grade and she absolutely LOVES it because of the people she gets to meet and serve. She strives to know every single student at SoJo because she wants every person to know they are important and have a friend.
Last year she memorized everyone's names and faces from the yearbook The year before she helped takes pictures of every student and had them write on it 'why they mattered' before hanging them all up in the hallways.
She has worked with other schools on Suicide Prevention and Awareness and led many assemblies and PROWL lessons. Her passion is the people she serves. She believes every student ROCKS and wants them to know and feel that.
Her sisters were the first to take her out for a shake to celebrate.
Later Robert and I took her out for a Double Double and as we drove in the jeep, a group of kids on the sidewalk started talking to her while we were stopped at a red light.
She is kind and comapssionate to everyone. Every person is valuable and important to her, regardless of anything, and I think she is so well like becasue of that. Congrats B! You will contunue to change the world through KINDNESS!

Yard Yoga w/ Mitch
Such a beautiful morning for yard yoga with our friend Mitch
We have been taking yoga classes with Mitch at the SoJo Rec center for several years now. He is seriously the BEST! Emily says his yoga classes are "Life Changing" and his classes have motivated her to become a certified yoga instructor at some point in her life. With the governor opening things up this past week, someone organized a socially distanced yoga class with Mitch in a backyard on the ridgeline overlooking the Jordan River.
This mornings yoga class with Mitch was 'Soooooo Good for the Soul'. A beautiful morning with blue skies, mild temperatures and a gentle breeze. It felt like a piece of heaven stretching and moving our bodies, as our minds relaxed and we focused on the light within us. After 2 months of quartine, this was sooo needed and so good for our souls!

Mission Decals
Most of Lindsay's male friends from high school all went out to serve 2 year missions right after high school ended, and almost everyone of them was called to serve in a foreign country.
With the Covid-19 quickly spreading around the whole world, the church decided to send all foreign missionaries back to their home countries.
Within a few short weeks, all of her friends were back in South Jordan and connecting with each other via Zoom. It has been so great for her to talk with them, and know they are close, even though she hasn't seen most of them face to face.
In early May, the church starting re-assigning missionaries that had been serving in foreign countries, to missions within the United States. Some had a few days notice before reporting to their new areas, and some will not be leaving for a few months. She wanted to do something for them before they left again, so she and Robert created these decals for them and their families that show BOTH areas they were assigned to labor in during their service.
They turned out awesome and now she's off to do some doorstep delivieries drop-off's.

Rope Swing Wounds
A friend from Kay's neighboring mission took her hiking and to a rope swing up in the mountains. She is not quite as tall as he is, and wasn't able to reach back down to the rocks after swingning. She had a few small scrapes and scratches from the outing, but she'd totally do it again. Thsi girl loves new adventures!

School Uniforms?
With the warmer weather, the girls have been doing a lot of their school work outside, sometimes pool side in bathing suits, but other times just in normal clothes at the table.
Did someone initiate a new school uniform policy for the School of Miller's?
Cheetah shirts and a black romper?
I will say......I love the look!
Ledgemere
For Lindsay's activity she planned a campfire up at Ledgemere
Beautiful night in a beautiful canyon
Love this girl so much! It is amazing the growth and maturity that takes place as these kids go off to college and live on their own. They grow and blossom and gain perspective on life and what is truly important to them. As parents, we love watching that process and love having her home with us before her mission!

Pool Time
This video reminds me so much of Robert throwing the girls up in the air when they were little. So fun to have Kai enjoy the pool as much as they do.

Tennis Tutorials
Makayla are Brenna have decided they want to play tennis together. They took group lesson together last summer, but didn't make a whole lot of progress. Now they are refocusing and redoubling their efforts to improve their game before tryouts next year. With Jeremy temporarily home from his mission due to Covid, he's offered to give them some free lessons and they are LOVING it!
He is so patient and so good with them and they feel like they improving, which is awesome!

Memory Items
For Brenna's activity tonightm, she asked us all to find an inject in our house that brought special memories to us and bring it to the firepit
It was sooo fun to see what everyone brought. A nativity from Guatemala, a set of tiny worry dolls from Guatemala, rope that we actual wound together as a family in Nauvoo, the infamous yellow Minnie shoes that Brenna wore to Disneyland, a family pic from our recent trip to Seattle, and 3 favorite books that we read sooooo many times we probably had them memorized.
It was super fun to talk about and share memories about favorite trips and books. We will always always be grateful for the opportunites we had to travel and to experience so much of life together when we all lived under the same roof. No regrets.
Saving these favorite's to read to the grandkids!
Miller Family Prom
One of the many events that has been cancelled this spring due to Covid-19 is Prom. This Prom has already taken many twists and turns as Emily was asked by 6 different boys (4 of which left presentation proposals on our porch) and said Yes to the 1st boy that asked, and they one she knew the least.
Then there was a certain incident at the Bathrooms at 9:30 at the Girls Preference dance and 60 boys were suspended and barred from attending Prom.....including Em's date, so Prom was already in a weird state before it was eventually cancelled.
With all the ups and downs of quaratine life, the girls decided to put together a special little Prom for Em. From asking her, decorating the venue, getting her dress ready, planning out awards, a memory wall and the prom court - they did it ALL........and all with items that where already in our house or at the shop. Amazing! This is a night we will always remember!
Sisters are seriously the BEST!
The Decorations
After taking pics at Daybreak, Emi found her Prom proposal on the car .....thanks Aubs & Elan for planting that.
She came home with her dress in hand, ready to go :)
Gold Ribbon corsage's where given to all the guests
Best part of Prom is having your Best Friends there to share it with you!
